Day 8

³Schmooze Fest² at Much Music on Queen Street is the big opening party to promote Canadian Films and Filmmakers. I was taking some portraits in the backstage area for Playback Magazine with Pete Vamos. There were plenty of Canadian Celebrities milling about. I asked Neve Campbell to do a portrait first. She seemed put off a bit, but agreed. She never seems too happy, but she is really hot, none the less? Chatted with Hugh Dillon briefly and shot a pretty cool portrait. At around 9:30 pm Nick Nolte walked in by himself. He was dressed in black, wearing sunglasses and carrying a Chinese hand fan to keep himself cool. He looked incredible. After he had done some interviews and posed for other photographers I approached him. He was polite and accommodating to the requests for a portrait. ³I¹ll do whatever you want! Fan or no Fan?². Fan for sure. ³Not too Gay?². Hey you brought it? We moved out of the main area against a black curtain. I knew this would make his hair and the fan pop out in the image. I shot 10 frames after I had positioned him. The image above is my favorite. I love the broken fan and his expression. I highlighted the area around his head in printing to give it that Halo effect. After we were done, I thanked him and handed him my business card (which has the self portrait with the miniature camera that I use on the opening flash page). He looked at it for a few seconds, then looked at me and said ³Dude...You have issues.² Then walked away. Thanks Nick.

Next: Less than 2 weeks till the final shoot. Will there be a Hollywood ending? Not likely. Stay tuned.
